Frequently Asked Questions

We get calls all the time for basic questions. If your particular issue isn't answered here, please call us to talk about your problem or question - we're always happy to discuss things.

We will either briefly answer your questions, or if you need extensive consulting, that can be arranged on an hourly basis as required.

Question: "How much do plans cost?"

Answer: Unfortunately, there's no one answer to that. We're not trying to be coy or avoid the question, but it's a bit like asking asking "How much does a car cost?" It depends upon how fancy, large, or expensive you want to go. Your project is different from anyone else's, and so its cost will be different from anyone else's. It could be less, it could be more, than your friend's or relative's, because it's individual and you will have wants and needs unique to you. You'll have as good idea, though, after a preliminary conference with us.

Question: "Could you come out to my property, to see my problem?"

Question: "We don't know if we should add on or sell."

Question: "We need advice as to how to add on to our property - or is it practical?"

Question: "We would like you to look at a parcel of land we're thinking of buying."

Question: "We just bought a piece of land we would like you to evaluate for our building program."

Answer: All of these questions are much the same. They require a site visit. Site visits are interesting and enjoyable, and one visit can save you money and give you direction for your plans. They do take a lot of time, though, so we charge a consulting fee for these. Please contact us if you would like us to help you.

Question: "I have some sketches I've done."

Question: "My wife has collected a number of books and magazines with pictures of architecture we like."

Answer: Great!! You have an idea of what you want, and we can work together to refine and make those ideas all yours. Individual design is what we're about, but it's good to know in what direction you want to go.

Question: "We have a fixed amount of money we want to spend."

Answer: Budgets are good - and we're extremely good at cost estimating - that's our building experience helping out - so we can tell you if you're being realistic or not.

If you particular question isn't listed here, please give us a call 805-466-5896 or fill out our form on our contact us page, and we'll get back to you.
